Our Aims

We are aiming at raising awareness among and educating youths from mainly, but not exclusive to, ethnic backgrounds through projects where we get them together in a friendly and safe environment giving them chance to interact with other people in their age groups but from diverse backgrounds, that they wouldn’t normally socialise with for whatever reason.

It is too common nowadays to see divisions within the younger members of society based on colour, religion or where you live.  Sadly these divisions can lead to a feeling of alienation from general society and have devastating results.  How often do you hear about stabbings and shootings in the media from within the younger age groups that are all down to differences arising from colour, religion and territory.  It’s becoming an all too familiar story.

As an organisation, we are trying to bring down these barriers and show these youths that we are not so different, by using a factor common to them all, Football!  We believe that most of these young people already play football but mainly between themselves and within their own cliques and at their own tournaments.  Our goal is to get these youths together and play against young people from other backgrounds with the end result being that they see the similarities between themselves and not the differences.

It is a well known fact that the first step of arbitration in any given scenario is to find common ground.  The Youth Activity Group are using football as the common ground in trying to educate the youth that they are not alone, and they are not so different.  With this in mind, it is our hope that as these young people go back to their homes and grow older, they will be able to pass this message on to their peers and eventually to their children and help make this a better society for all.

The Youth Activity Group has successfully organised, managed and hosted 5-a-side football tournaments in the past where we have had over 50 teams and 300 people from all parts of the country attend.  It was a great success with positive feedback from all the teams involved, but more importantly it led to friendships being forged and barriers broken.
